Native macOS · No uploads · Your data never leaves your Mac

ImgZilla swallows your image size whole in one bite

ImgZilla compresses images locally in batches — overwriting in place, keeping filenames and paths, never uploading to the cloud. Drop them in, let go, and watch file size shrink by up to 90%.

Privacy first: no network, no tracking, no data collection

Why ImgZilla

Absurdly tough, tender in the details

Fixed, best-in-class compression settings — no endless tweaking. Just drop your images in and leave the rest to ImgZilla.

Lossless compression

It strips only redundant data, never touching a pixel. Extra color tables are removed, encoding is optimized, structure is repacked — pixel for pixel identical to the original, at a fraction of the size.

Batch drag and drop

Just drag in a whole folder. Thousands of images are handled at once, with no clicking through them one by one.

Processed in one go

32,188 images

Local and private

Compression runs entirely on your Mac. No network, no uploads, no tracking — your images never leave the computer.

Overwrite in place

Files are overwritten directly, keeping their name, path and extension — never breaking references in your project or web pages.

Side-by-side compare

Press ⌘D to inspect before and after at pixel level. If you can't tell the difference, that's good compression.

Strip metadata

Remove EXIF, GPS and other sensitive info in one click, so sharing an image no longer leaks your location or device.

Three steps, done

No sliders, no settings, no waiting

  1. 01

    Drop it in

Drag images or an entire folder onto ImgZilla — batches welcome.

  2. 02

    Lossless squeeze

The local engine compresses visually losslessly at optimal settings; originals are backed up to the Trash automatically.

  3. 03

    Ready to use

Files are overwritten in place with unchanged paths — the compressed images are ready instantly.

Quality compare · ⌘D

Size cut to a sliver, quality untouched

Drag the slider and see for yourself. On the left is the compressed ImgZilla version, on the right the original — apart from file size, you'll struggle to find any difference.

  • I dragged my whole website image folder in and it went from 480MB to 96MB in seconds, with no visible difference. Best little tool I've bought this year.

  • What won me over is that everything is processed locally — client product shots don't have to be passed around anymore. Originals go straight to the Trash, so overwriting carries zero anxiety.

  • Clean interface, zero learning curve — drag the images in and you're done. I've used plenty of online compressors, and ImgZilla is still the most worry-free and the safest.

FAQ

FAQ

Are my images uploaded to a server?

ImgZilla is a native macOS app. All compression happens locally on your computer — no network, no uploads, no tracking. Your images never leave your Mac.

Does overwriting in place lose the original?

No. Before compressing, ImgZilla automatically moves the original file to the Trash. The name, path and extension all stay the same, and you can restore it anytime.

Why is there no compression-strength slider?

ImgZilla uses fixed, carefully tuned optimal settings that balance size and quality, sparing you from tweaking image by image — dropping it in is already the best answer.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, HEIC/HEIF, WebP and AVIF — old photos and next-generation formats alike.

What's the difference between Free and Unlimited?

Free has a daily compression quota, ideal for occasional use. Unlimited is a one-time purchase for unlimited runs and unlimited batches, and unlocks side-by-side compare, metadata stripping and more.

What system version do I need?

ImgZilla requires macOS 12.3 or later.
