Are my images uploaded to a server?
ImgZilla is a native macOS app. All compression happens locally on your computer — no network, no uploads, no tracking. Your images never leave your Mac.
Does overwriting in place lose the original?
No. Before compressing, ImgZilla automatically moves the original file to the Trash. The name, path and extension all stay the same, and you can restore it anytime.
Why is there no compression-strength slider?
ImgZilla uses fixed, carefully tuned optimal settings that balance size and quality, sparing you from tweaking image by image — dropping it in is already the best answer.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, HEIC/HEIF, WebP and AVIF — old photos and next-generation formats alike.
